Sacred and the Profane...... teaser!
Hey guys i got a teaser for u all which maybe someone out there can help with!
Ive got more than one copy of SACRED AND THE PROFANE and have noticed that the white label centre is actually two distinctly different colours.... there is a cream/white shade and a sky blue/white shade....
I can see from the collectors bible by Ande Tucker that there were three pressings of this record..... the question is does anyone know which pressing the two shades are???
Any help VERY WELCOME!!!
(my first post so u must be gentle!!!)

Re: Sacred and the Profane...... teaser!
Not to nit-pick, but there were 3 RE-pressings. Making a total of 4 runs, each of 500 copies (2,000 total)Diablos wrote:there were three pressings of this record..... the question is does anyone know which pressing the two shades are???
I've got one of the first runs, and the labels are slightly different colours each side - one is a creamy colour the other side is off white. I suspect the pressing plant just used whatever they had to hand and that it would be impossible to tell which pressing was which. It gets even more complicated when you factor in that the bootlegger had only two print runs of the sleeve done (2 x 1,000) as it was cheaper for him to do it that way. Originally he believed it would never sell, which is why the original run was only 500.

Hey....!
I meant its the first post ive started a thread.....
Thanks Ande, that helps because i guess we can deduce that the blue shaded centre is a later copy
Although upon closer inspection all three records i have are different.... doh!
1st disc is cream/white on both sides
2nd disc is pale blue on both sides
3rd disc is cream/white on one side and pale blue on the other
Do you know if these three different combinations signify which batch they were pressed?
Thanks again!
