The problem with Elizium is...

Discuss about the albums and videos the band has released over the years. The band we are talking about here is of course F.O.T.N. and not side-projects, similar bands etc. Please use other sections if you want to talk about the weather.

If someone besides goth music likes listening to extreme metal as well, it is obvious that he will prefer Zoon to Elisium!
If you ask me I like some Zoon songs (Shine, Zoon III, and I used to listen to Penetration :D ), but Elisium is something bigger!! Something that takes my soul far away... And I will always love it! *cthulhu*
Very true and well said. I love metal, but I'm not that about 'Zoon' apart from a couple of songs like 'Melt, Shine, Zoon II/Zoon III but thats about it. I also never ever tire of 'Elizium', to me it's much better and more majestic than 'Zoon' in many ways, but each to their own.

Yeah, I used to just listen to Elizium on loop. The sounds at the end segue well into the sounds at the beginning. I'm pretty sure it was designed to be played over & over. :)

:o you make it sound like a torture tactic. When he designed Zoon he designed it so that one listen would be enough for some people

the problem with Elizium is that there is no ukulele on it

The problem with Elizium is that the album version of Sumerland is too looooonnnngggg! I dubbed the album onto my MP3 player, but with the album Sumerland replaced with the 12" single Sumerland. I like the album better with the 12" version.

My problem with Elizium is simple... there just isn't enough of it. Hated the album at first, but has slowly become on of my favourite albums of all time. In fact, I'm often quoted as saying that after Elizium, music died for me. After Elizium, it took me a long while to find anything interesting or 'new'. I had to switch genres; Beastie Boys, Wagon Christ etc... or go and hide in the 1950's

Apparently I can still weep to hear the guitar work / production at the end of ATWYHBA ... sober! .... which is a good thing. Thank you Paul, Andy and Nod, probably in that order. I used to think these parts were played by "the slide guitar dude" (Peter now that I know) ... but is he in that track whatsoever?? Certainly those leads are as much reminiscent of him as of Paul stylistically.

Regarding the actual topic of the thread, yeah, it's pretty much a non sequitur. Maybe they should have closed the album with a light rockabilly cover to allow folks to keep spinning. ( :) )

They chose to close the album in a way that would allow folks to keep dreaming....TAKE THE DREAM *cthulhu*

Ha! Ha! good reply Kostas. As for the announcement of announcement, I've dreamt nothing yet but of an other new of a Neph performance.
Only wondering if the band happens to visit the places where they plan to play in order to take the necessary data for preparing the shows. It would be such professional if they did.

'Elizium' is in my opinion a million times better than Zoon. I love metal in a big way, and I also love a lot of black metal provided it has a lot of melody. I just find 'Zoon' very hard to get into, apart from really excellent songs like 'Shine, Melt (The Catching of the Butterfly), Zoon I & II (Saturation) and Zoon III (Wake World). The rest of it just isn't that memorable or that impressive to me. You could always put on 'The Nephilim, Mourning Sun' or 'Smoke And Mirrors' right after 'Elizium'.

Elizium is the consumate FOTN album for myself in many ways................although 'The Nephilim', 'Zoon' and 'Mourning Son' have fragments which come close...............neither do.

To follow it is difficult because it is so unique and it stands up on its own. Much like 'Joy Division - Closer' and 'Cocteau Twins - Garlands' there is no follow up fr me..............Elizium is a statement.

Zoon, Elizium, The Nephilim, even Mourning Sun : like for sons and daughters, no need for competition between them. I like each of these albums as much.

You could rip/copy all the songs on 'Elizium' into itunes, and then get 'Revelations' and rip/copy the full length version of 'For Her Light' in place of the original shorter version of 'For Her Light'. Also you could also put 'Psychonaut' in there some where seen as it is around the same period, maybe after 'At The Gates of Silent Memory' or 'Sumerland'. When you have both 'Elizium' and 'Revelations' copyed in, and in the order you want then burn it to a cd. After you put those two songs in the length of the album will be about fifty seven or fifty eight minutes.

Give Stabbing Westward's first album UNGOD a try. I prefer it to Wither Blister Burn and Peel, in fact very possibly my favourite "rock" album of the 90s.
