In other place it is called The Falling-asleep (Dormition or Assumption) of the Most-Holy Theotokos and celebrated on August 15th:

Hi Ngie! *notworthy*
  • I didn't know that there are angels with more than two wings. Interesting.
  • When I read this text from the Britannica, I get the impression that Isaiah might have been drunk.
  • I seem to lack knowledge to see the relation to the Neph logo.

Hi Marcandre, well if you take the Neph logo cutting the circle/disc in two parts horizontally then forget the below as an immersed part and watch the top it may be more obvious to see a relation as I did.

By the way in the britannica picture the seraph appears in full with wings (4+2legs) and 2 arms freely flying above whereas in the oca one only the top of the seraph is viewable.

I didn't know either for the wings but I had already noticed such oddities in bliblic pictures.

About Isaiah being drunk this is quite plausible since drinking wine was a common thing at the time.

In the top picture the wings look like two moustaches to me

Regarding drinking: Wine yes, altough I think it was usually mixed with water, and I don't know how strong it was. Distilled alcohol still came a bit later (Wiki talks about evidence from the 12./13. century)

But the Egyptians already distilled beer.
All for practical reason : beer/wine did not get bad. Water could be contaminated, or wells poisoned in time of war. It was not for the alcohol content, well, except in aforementioned case !

i guess that in those times, if you were allergic to alcohol, you were screwed…
Fundraiser. You know, it's like Hellraiser, but without the Cenobites, the blood and all that.

I had never thought of the comparison between wings and moustache. Now each time I'll see a moustache I'll remember this. It makes me wonder if men who wear one have in mind that angelic side looking on their face. Oh how weird to have a pair of wings under the nose !

Here's a splendid one : Image
