Any interpretation as to why he is a scarecrow in this imagery? I don't recall references in any songs.

egads I found this unrelated scarecrow video with a too weird intro   I think I'm gonna have nightmares

" the production was re-edited for a British theatrical run before the American television debut. Titled Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow, the British theatrical version was released on a double bill with The Sword in the Stone, and ran during the 1963 Christmas season " source= https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/The_Scar ... mney_Marsh

was this an early influence? It just sounds too spaghetti western.. yet not. Ok I know thats a stretch

I never wondered "why". Carl looks naturally like a bird demon in this great picture :D He always looks a bit like a raven

weren't there people dressed as birds in on of the FOTN videos by Richard Stanely?

The picture definately is scarecrow because you can see the stick coming out of the sleve. Though he does have some feathers in his cap that some rude crow sat on his head and left there. But could it suggest a version of the person on the cross like in some of the other imagery?

He is planted in a wheat field. I guess thats where the flour they need for the shows, starts. Perhaps Carl being a perfectionist , to get it just right, they feel they have to grow their own. To get the highest yield they play FOTN music to it all day and Carl guards it personally. No wonder its so hard for them to get new music produced! It takes so much time and work just to produce their flour from scratch.

Here is a page I found on scarecrow lore :

https://www.learnreligions.com/scarecro ... st-2562307

"In the fields of ancient Greece, wooden statues were placed in the fields, carved to represent Priapus. Although he was the son of Aphrodite, Priapus was also hideously ugly, and his most prominent feature was his constant (and huge) erection. "

*whistle*
Carl you cheeky lad!

Yes, it is definitely the scarecrow. But I am not sure if there is a stick in his sleeve. It looks like a decayed bone

I think you may be right there! Perhaps I wrongfully assumed it was a stick for the cross piece.
