Discuss about the albums and videos the band has released over the years. The band we are talking about here is of course F.O.T.N. and not side-projects, similar bands etc. Please use other sections if you want to talk about the weather.

Correcting misquoted Lyrics found online.

Post by PullusPardus » Mon Oct 15, 2012 10:02 am

I've seen so many sites that write the lyrics of some songs wrong, and since not many songs have official lyrics sheet in their CD cases, I'll try to correct some of lyrics here.
(I highly recommend listening to the songs in surround headset, for some words are hard to get.)

Dead but Dreaming / For Her Light / At the Gates Of Silent Memories / Paradise Regained

I posted it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1aoUtscC2E

2. For Her Light

Easy...
how lonely you are? , waiting
at the sunday park
I'll elude you
I will loose you
existing were no soul apart

you stand, stand on a platform
your effigy dissolves in my hand
when I feel like someone to lie on
and I feel like someone to rely on
you can't wake up
you can't wake up

you can't wake up...

you can't wake up
you can't wake up

you can't wake up....

illusions, born of the air
something seems so precious there
I'll elude you
I will loose you
as rehearsal of my despair
when I feel like someone to lie on
and I feel like someone to die on
you can't wake up
you can't wake up

you can't wake up...

you can't wake up
you can't wake up

you can't wake up...

(((Oh hear me
I'm what you have left
Here I am
In this necrologue of love ))) * in the single extended version

3. At The Gates Of Silent Memory

[Love of my life, God grant the years
Confirm the chrism - rose to rood!
Anointing loves, asperging tears
In sanctifying solitude!
That holds my heaven and holds my hell.] - Crowley

Yes today...
life that I knew...
So sick of all the people...
A blind moon....
over to the window...
Where the night has become....
Elizium for the sleepless souls...
And our days to come...
You stand, stand with dilemma
Maybe I'll just pass-away....
Or may be I'll stay...
But I feel, alive with you...
And I feel, some kind of heaven....
I feel deep inside her...
And I feel some kind of heaven

Give me...
Give me...
Give me....
Some kind of heaven

[Such lights she gives as guide my barque;
That holds my heaven and holds my hell.
Love of my life...
Man is so infinitely small
Man is so infinitely great!] - *from Aleister Crowley , at sea poem

4. Paradise Regained

Come in from the cold
I'll hold you my heart!
Be my shelter!
Be my refuge for the night
Love of my life
Pour your light!
on the faith I can feel
Make it real........
Ha!
Faith!
Make it real........
Guilty!
Guilty!
Guilty!
Guilty!
Make it real....
Dead To the World / From The Fire / Thirst - Fallen ( http://youtu.be/ODkt6naSOCA I uploaded these three songs without a break here)

****Dead to the World****

(I know how it.... feels)
(FLESH!)
(Hold me...)
(not right now!)
(I shall get going!)
(I miss you)
(I'll always be with you)
(Breath....)

Control!
Reach Out!
Reborn!
Black out!

Suffocation of life, obsessive drive, for a thousand breathes the following nights
For grieve, to grieve alone, separation of our body, from our soul

To take, a leap of faith, no trying to go back
To take, a leap of faith, no trying to go back
To take, a leap of faith , no trying to go back
Lost in your soul, you're...
Dead to the world

(LIES!)
(LIES!)
(LIES!)

****From The Fire****

I Am certain
Of the way now
Like the Sun , Up so far above me
And I need no one, and I need nothing
I couldn't wait, I've been dead for so long

Help me, from the fire , from the liar
Take my hand, I know the way now
Help me, from the fire, on my way down
Nothing left, I can't forget about you.

I'll be here, waiting for you.
No more searching, for a way out
I'll be here....

Help me , from the fire , from the liar.
take my hand , I know the way now.
Help me, from the fire, on my down.
Nothing left , I can't forget about you.

I'll Be here...
I'll Be Here... (I'm Waiting for you)
I'll Be Here
I'll Be here... (I'm waiting for you)

Waited All my life !
Waited All my Life !
All my life (I'll be here)
All my life

Waiting for you... (life)
Waiting for you... (life)
Waiting for you... (life)

In the future
Remember now...
the way that you were.
So don't look down.

Wherever you go
as time goes round
you're only human.
remember now?

Flesh.

*****Thirst******

Flesh!

I'll Be here..
I'll Be Here..
I'll Be Here..
I'll Be Here..
(LIES!)

Gonna go where I belong...
Tomorrow we ain't never
Burning up and Carry on...

I've been waiting for you...(Never!)
Been here waiting for you... (Never!)
I've been waiting for you...

The Weak, can stay, no time for looking back
We choose, we mourn , we shall separate!

Cover your eyes, there's nothing left
I'm just hoping, to see you go...
Never again, that you're my friend, not for a moment....

Gonna go where I belong...
Tomorrow we ain't never
Burning up and Carry on...

Tomorrow , No more
No time to hallucinate

Gonna lead the future. (never!)
I've been waiting for you... (never!)
Gonna let it go, now....

Tomorrow, No more.
No time to hallucinate

With you, No more, your flesh incinerate
We choose, we mourn, We shall separate...

We shall separate!
Dawnrazor

Cutting razor sounding violin
Recalling Kuthru* Razor sin
We're watching Heaven
As the sun goes down
I watch the sun burst
it hits the ground
You've got to... Hark! Dawnrazor formed the crest and the star
Hark! Dawnrazor's form caressing the sky
Dawnrazor, Dawnrazor
Well How
Dawnrazor, Dawnrazor
Hark! Dawnrazor formed the crest and the star
Hark! Dawnrazor's form caressing the sky
Let's go
Only in Dreams Have i been lost before
Only in dreams Have i been cut before
Cutting razor Sound and Violin
Recalling Kuthru
Raise us in
Hark! Dawnrazor's formed the crescent and the star
Hark! Dawnrazor's form caressing a scar
Hark! Dawnrazor's formed the crescent and the star
Hark! Dark Angel's born, the rest of us die

Slow Kill (this song is about a person who is tempted by suicide and death is viewed as a "She" that tempts him to jump)

Don't Cry on the bridge of starving
So cold for this night
Up here on the bridge at night.
Forsake me, but Listen..

Slow...
Slow...
Slowly, for what?

Up here on the bridge at night
To fall would be so nice.

Wish this misery out of this town.
bury my face into it's ground
Now Jump.
Now Jump.
J-J-J-J-Jump!

Vacant smile, Mesmerized
She wants you Up.
She wants you.

Up here I can see for miles.
Judging (flies ?), by their size ?
I'm up here 'cause I wanted to die.
Well i'm here like a dying messiah
I'm up here 'cause I wanted to die
Well I'm here, I lie here

Wish this misery out of this town
Bury my face into the ground.
Now Jump.
Now Jump
J-J-J-J-Jump!

(Jump)

Don't Cry!
Don't Cry, Now.
Don't Cry!
Don't Cry, now.

Don't Cry...

Now Jump.
Now Jump
J-J-J-J-Jump!

(Bury my face into this ground)

Laura

Tempted white eyes
Blinded by the night
Hollow like the towers
On the inside
Laura's a machine, she's burning insane
Laura's a machine

For a menace in disguise behold this night
Four walls are furnished now she's alive

No one ever helped poor Laura
No one ever helped poor Laura
She's rabid in ecstasy
She's rabid in ecstasy
She's rabid in ecstasy
She's rabid in ecstasy

She's on the line to cut it all
She's on the line to drop and fall
She's on the line to cut or fall
She's on the line
Line to fall

People laughing, an awful sight
Please leave Laura
'Tis her night
Laura can you see
Laura can you say
Laura can you see
From the light of the Catherine wheel
She spins from above
Haunted by these times
My European love

No one ever helped poor Laura
No one ever helped poor Laura
She's rabid in ecstasy
She's rabid in ecstasy
She's rabid in ecstasy
She's rabid in ecstasy

She's on the line to cut it all
She's on the line to drop and fall
She's on the line to cut or fall
She's on the line
Line to fall
Power

Power feeds you long loving hours
I can give everlasting power
Flower
The world opens you, the simple flower
A feeling, a feeling all so sour

Draining me, now draining me from power
Draining me, now draining me from power

Power
The wide-open stench you're all so sour
I can't give but I receive for hours

Draining me now
Draining me from power
Draining me now
Draining me from power
Draining static from the attic,
Attic walls

Draining me now
Draining me from power
Draining me now
Draining me from power
Draining static from the attic,
Attic walls

A power
So somatic
Till your heart is burning
I call it static
I'm ecstatic
So charismatic
You're so tragic
My love's so manic
I have the power
Leaves you frantic
My mind is churning
I'm a sex fanatic
See my touch
Makes you cower
Drain me of
My bleeding hour
Attic walls!
Subsanity

Subsanity ! I'm alive Subsanity like a burning fire

Nice! I'll have to pop on the headphones later and see how that checks out with what I can hear.

Wanna have a go at "Dawnrazor"? Most lyrics I've seen online for that don't seem right to me, but I haven't had much luck deciphering it myself.

Also another thing is that ,you should listen to Live videos of the song, it sometimes show the vocals more clearer than the studio versions.
also note that Carl sometimes get his own lyrics wrong like one of Chord Of Souls i've seen where he says "well he's on fire, and I'm so cold" instead of the "Well i'm on fire, and he's so cold"

At some point, I'll have to upload all the lyrics I've determined (pretty much complete) with all the source images, notes and stuff (inc. where the samples come from). But as Dawnrazor was asked about, here's the official lyrics from the Official Site (before they were removed under the redesign)

Image
Cutting razor sounding violin
Recalling Kuthru* Razor sin
We're watching Heaven
As the sun goes down
I watch the sun burst
it hits the ground
You've got to... Hark! Dawnrazor formed the crest and the star
Hark! Dawnrazor's form caressing the sky
Dawnrazor, Dawnrazor
Well How
Dawnrazor, Dawnrazor
Hark! Dawnrazor formed the crest and the star
Hark! Dawnrazor's form caressing the sky
Let's go
Only in Dreams Have i been lost before
Only in dreams Have i been cut before
Cutting razor Sound and Violin
Recalling Kuthru
Raise us in
Hark! Dawnrazor's formed the crest and the star
Hark! Dawnrazor's form caressing a scar
Hark! Dawnrazor's formed the crest and the star
Hark! Dark Angel's born, the rest of us die

*I assume Kuthru is another variant of Cthulhu, or other Sumerian thingummybob

Xym's version of Dawnrazor is probably the best we'll ever get (although I'd say when sung it is 'cut-throat' and not a Cthulhu reference). Having said that, I have another 'official' copy of Dawnrazor lyrics which I bought from Resurrection Records in Camden Town years ago, and they are quite different from the version Xym quotes from. So how 'official' is 'official'? As Carl had to provide lyrics in advance when performing abroad, he may have simply written different versions on the spot and distorted or adapted whatever words he thought might be heard - McCoy is such an elusive figure that we shouldn't assume his words are inert, but alive and fugitive - profound yet also ironic and ambiguous

As for the lyric sheet I bought - I will try to find it, but it has disappeared into a library of 20,000 books and 100s of 1,000s of pages of notes. I sometimes wonder whether I dreamt this lyric sheet into existence and that it has since disappeared into memory - but I know that one day it will resurface, and I'll start looking again tomorrow. In the meantime, I recommend Dawnrazors read Borges - stories such as 'The Book of Sand' and 'The Library of Babel' should create the required sense of textual vertigo

Funnily enough, "Recalling cut-throat razor sin" was one of the few lines that I *thought* I could make out unambiguously in the original recording. :?

You can certainly see the fluidity of the lyrics even in Xym's transcript (which doesn't seem perfectly accurate to me, but is better than most lyrics I've seen online). We have the first two lines:
Cutting razor sounding violin
Recalling Kuthru* Razor sin
And then when what I would have said were the same lyrics come around again in the last verse, they're rendered as:
Cutting razor Sound and Violin
Recalling Kuthru
Raise us in
Rather than saying that the lyric is "razor sin" the first time and "raise us in" the second time, it's probably more accurate to say that it is both simultaneously.

Yeah. Thanks for that.

'twas taken from www.fields-of-the-nephilim.com - Words by Carl, Calligraphy by Lynne, published by SheerFaith only 2 or 3 years ago. You think that's utter tripe, take it up with them. My transcript is the best I can make out from the calligraphy, and that's definately not Cut Throat (i always heard cut throw/through), but what do I know. I'm just the Mysterious Xym!

I think most of it is gibberish! Start of Psychonaut: "Pray now, for how long, we're falling from ecstasy like changelings etc" makes little narrative sense. And The Tower has always mystified me with some references to dancing through a kitchen. In fact I am not sure I know what any of the songs are actually about..........

Psychonaut: 'We're falling from ecstasy / Like changelings' does make some sense. One theory of the origin of Faeries (the sinister inhabitant of the Otherworld, not the camp little sprites of children's stories) in British folklore was that they were fallen angels. Among their various activities they sometimes switched human babies with their own offspring - changelings. (If anyone is concerned about this, the best way to prevent it from happening is to lace hawthorn around the edges of the baby's crib)

I've always thought it was "Dawnrazors form a razor's edge."

And I'm probably too old and set in my ways to change my opinion now *smoking*

I am always surprised by the arrogance of those listeners who say their guesses as to the lyrics are somehow more accurate than those of other listeners - or even the performers themselves! egad.

About Mc Coy : That's pretty well said.

I didn't know about the condition of providing lyrics in advance. Could you precise to whom and what for?

Thanks for the Borges reference, I had a dive in some of it yesterday and understand better now what you mean about textual vertigo. :)

 Pullus-Pardus : I doubt we'll ever fix the lyrics if only because of the statement above

Here's my last 'lecture' or 'hearing' of Dawnrazor somewhat influenced by some of what's on the Internet about the illuminati NWO propaganda and stories about who is Rain Man.

Cutting razor sounding violin
recalling cutthroat raise our sin
we're watching heaven as the sun goes down
I watch the sand but there is no ground / I watch the sun but it hits no ground
I'm counting
Old Dawnrazor storm
retchs the sky
dawnrazor
dawnrazor willow
dawnrazor
dawnrazor wow
yeah
ah dawnrazor storm
retchs the sky
our dawnrazors falling retchs the sky
(It's stormy)

rain dreams abide been lost before
rain dreams abide been cut before

Who is Dawnrazor?

Also here's an unneglectable reference which most probably influenced the early lyrics of FOTN : the movie The devil's rain

this is an excellent find, and it says Crest and the Star, and it shows a crest , a star and a moon at the very bottom, so I am assuming its just a made up religion by the nephilim, It makes sense now, since their dawnrazor album as a whole is a fictional story about a corrupt preacher and his downfall.

I haven't found that rogue lyric sheet yet, but thinking back I'm pretty sure it read

'Dawnrazor's falling: caress Arras Star'

Same calligraphy as the Sheer Faith lyrics once on the official website - but whether Carl McCoy actually sings that is another matter...

As soon as I find it, I'll post it

Why? Try see it like the description of a painting which is not surprising knowing Carl as a graphic designer.
