i`ve never viewed zoon as a fotn album, to me it`s a different beast altogether. it`s not my cup of tea, but i`m not going to ram down folks throats what i think of it.
so why do individuals who like it(which is their want and quite entitled to do so) have to bore people to death with how great they think it is and mention it in every second post?
very strange behaviour indeed.

Well buddy this is Fields of The Nephilim/Nefilim forum and what we do is we tend to bore ourselfs to death with how great we think they (FOTN and Nefilim for some) are. And to tell you more... we actually mention about it in every second postBrian Cant wrote:i`ve never viewed zoon as a fotn album, to me it`s a different beast altogether. it`s not my cup of tea, but i`m not going to ram down folks throats what i think of it.

For me it is by far the best thing Carl has ever done. The depth of this album is still amazing. At the time I had heard nothing like it before and remember being stunned after the first listen. It feels to me like a complete realisation of a concept that starts and ends at the same point and brings sound, lyric and artwork together perfectly.
... but no album divided the community like Zoon.
I hated it at first (likewise Chaocracy, when I first heard it back in 1993). But then again, I hated Rubicon also! It was just arrogance and ignorance on my part. I disliked them because they were not like FOTN.
In 1999, I bought an Aussie edition of Zoon (I also own the two UK CDs and an SPV copy of Zoon), and later the Penetration singles, and grew to actually love it!
I cannot remember off the top of my head, but I think Beggars said it was about life and death and the extremes of both. Something like that. Certainly the album seems to start with life or rebirth and seems ends with death.
It is a great album, sadly much criticised. And a brave move on Carl's part to break away from the Gothicky commercialism that FOTN was turning into and go back to the dark roots that spawned FOTN originally.
It's a shame that Carl has this little annoying habit of falling out with musicians and record labels! If only he did not, we could have had much more albums from him by now!

Nobody is viewing Zoon as an FOTN album. However, it is a Carl McCoy album, which is why people like to discuss it at length. And Carl McCoy, as singer, songwriter, co-composer, and artist, was a key player of FOTN since 1984.Brian Cant wrote:i`ve never viewed zoon as a fotn album, to me it`s a different beast altogether. it`s not my cup of tea, but i`m not going to ram down folks throats what i think of it.

One could argue why do people insist on boring others to death about how great ***** FOTN EP/album/single/video is. I have been boring people to death for the past 10 years over at SUMERLAND. Just ask John Harford, Beth W, Dragon/Raywn, Lissanne, etc, etc, etc!!!
Here's to another ten years of boring people to death about FOTN and Nefilim.

What was the inflatable fishes for, anyway? At the end of the Saturday gig, Carl walked to the side of the stage, picked up a few of the inflatable fish and threw them back into the audience. A little comedic moment that made me smile!

Mourning Thomas, ye fellow Sumerlander!ThomasB wrote:I dislike most thins metal and I love Zoon.
Do you think I REALLY need therapy ?
I suppose it depends on what you call "Metal". Some poeople class AC/DC as Metal, but they class themselves Rock and Roll. Some people may mistakenly mistake Dawnrazor for Metal.
Even cutie little Katie Melua (whom I saw in concert last May) has a few songs of Goth appeal, such as "Piece by piece", "Faraway Voice", "I cried for you" and "It's only pain". ("it's only pain" also had a great, gothicky video too!) She even was dressed all in black when she performed at the gig I went to last May. But she is not what one could class a Goth.
As Carl would say, its all music so why label it?
(Here's me hoping for an album of duets by Carl McCoy and Frank Sidebottom! It might sound good!)

I almost took home one that was deflated, but it was covered in dirty foot prints, so I thought better of it.Bau wrote:mabee Carl threw the nemos off the stage because everybody wanted to pack up their shit and go home. Thats usualy what one does after playing a gig.
Still, watching Carl throw inflatable fish into the audience was rather amusing! Unintended comedic moment.

I think my idea of Hell might be being force fed Marmite, whilst listening to Red 777 for all eternity! I am not a fan of either, sadly. However, we all have our own tastes and life would be dull if we all liked the same things.
