Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman - hilariously intelligent and highly recommended.

"The Oxford Book of English Ghost Stories".

I was reading one by Bram Stoker last night and is was so suspenseful that I had to put it down and leave the room for a while!
Scary is good.

Haven't read it but the title sounds interesting somehow.
But following the reviews one shouldn't expect too much. It's from the thriller/crime genre, nothing mystical about it. :|

I just finished A Dance With Dragons by George R R Martin, and it was a very well-written epic in which a lot of things didn't happen, but the things which happened were fairly drastic.

At the end of the previous novel, the author said this book would be out next year - that was back in 2005. Some fans are annoyed at the slow rate of progress in writing the series, but not me. I'm a FotN fan, I'm used to waiting patiently.

Read and reviewed that fecker.

It's quite an enthralling read, but the Nephilim themselves are just a footnote. So… Why the feck call it "Nephilim" ?
Oh, well, maybe there will be more of it in the second and final installmment…

"The Football Factory" by John King, which contains possibly the best opening line I've ever read: "Coventry are fuck-all."

…Is it as good as the movie :?:
(Or better, but there has been movie adaptations better than the novel. Granted, a few, but nonetheless. ANyone who read the original Gary Brandner's "The Howling" will understand…)

Definitely prefer the book....love the structure and style. I did enjoy the film though.

Thanks, gotta get it someday. What I love about the movie was the fact that those "football fans" w**kers were always to busy hitting someone to actually see any football game !

Yes, I know. If you can, try to get hold of the series "The Real Football Factories". It's presented by Danny Dyer (who played Tommy Johnson in the film) and he goes round the country interviewing the UK's "hardest hooligans." He's a bit of a prat and tends to glorify it all, but it's still fascinating. One firm from Burnley said they couldn't care less if their team won or lost as long as they had a good row with the opposing crew.
