Sorry for the short text first, but I was too busy.
This book is about the nephilim as they were descriped in the book of henoch,
"the book of the watchers" in special. You could compare it with Collin Willsons
book - from the ashes of angels, but more focused on Henochs source.
A bit shorter, but absolutely worth to read. I havn't finished it yet, but I like it
very much so far.
The writer launched a web site with some nice art also:

sorry to be pedantic here - 'From the Ashes of Angels' was by Andrew Collins ISBN-13: 978-0451189264 for those interested, and if its hard to get hold of I >might< have a spare copy somewhere if anyone's interested (I only say might because I haven't seen it since I moved house it's either lost or still boxed away- I haven't had time to look)oldnephilim wrote:You could compare it with Collin Willsons

"Narziss und Goldmund" by Hermann Hesse
Re: Currently Reading...
"The adventures of Tom Sawyer and zombies".
Bollocks. Big, fat, sweaty ones. Pick up any book, add in references to zombie, and presto ! Re-market the same stuff.
Of course, it depends if you view it as re-painting the Mona Lisa with disco wear or a way to make the classics accessible, but here, it did not add anything. Mark Twain's oft-copied book works because it perfectly encompass the wonders and fear of youth. It already has a boogeyman (here called "Native American Joe", which is just as ridiculous as it sounds !!!!!), why does it needs zombies for except marketing ?
But then… since I got the formula, if a publisher wants to give me good money to churn out "Les misérables with the dead" or "Zombie of the opera", I'm all his !

How come I didn't notice this topic earlier?
Penguin Collection of Christopher Marlowe's Complete Plays. Luckily he didn't write many o' those. Hohoho.
I still haven't made up my mind about whether I prefer Marlowe to Shakespeare or vice versa, but I think I never will anyway

A 1916 edition of Algernon Blackwood's novel The Centaur. Blackwood (possibly second to Dunsany) was Lovecraft's favourite writer. Blackwood also wrote a large number of brilliant ghost stories, which ought to give pleasure to those who don't have time or inclination for the longer works.

Yes, Me Liketh Algernon Blacwood a LOT. "Wendigo", for one, is an absolute classic, and he wrote with more elegance than any of his contemporaries !
In the same vein, I love W.H. Hodgson as well…

Re: Currently Reading...
Well, finished reading it at the weekend and I must say that I'm a bit disappointed. It's not too well written and the characters are a bit clichéed, I also felt the end was rushed. It's got that Dan Brown feel to it; I read Sony bought the rights for a film. It's not bad, but it could have been much better imo.CarmillaV wrote:Is this "Angelology" book really any good?
