Am new here & haven't managed to read all the threads yet. Has anybody filled in the gaps in you memory?Steve wrote:It was 86/87.
About the time Dawnrazor came out.
I had heard Power & decided I had to see what was going on.
I can't remember the name of the ballroom , but it was in Hammersmith (or was it Totenham court road).
Long time ago now ;o) & not getting any younger.

Of course bill. I'm not as sensitive as those Sprout Munching, Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys or them Cod Fishing Porno Merchants as seem to inhabit this place.

Thanks for the welcomes.
My 1st time would also fit into the "How did you become aware..." thread. I used to go to a club called the Underground in Croydon on Thursdays and Sundays. Alternative music and live bands.
So, came across them there supporting a band called The Shop Assistants. Being a Sad Old Git I was keeping a gig list at the time, which I still have. Consequently I know it was 23 March 1986.
Saw them there again on 17 April supporting Danielle Dax. That time I danced and was sucked in.

And also be reminded of some of your dodgier moments!!!mindcleener wrote:A gig list is a good thing to have. Always funny being able to browse the list and see which bands, who were "the big thing" back in the daysSadoldgit wrote: Being a Sad Old Git I was keeping a gig list at the time, which I still have. Re: Your 1st FOTN gig
may 12 1988 manchester international 2 in longsight, was 19. travelled down from north lancashire. loved it, so did most of the rest of the tour.
a question: these people who say 'I went to the town and country gig which was filmed for the forever remain video in may 1988 etc.' - from memory, and do correct me if i'm wrong, there were 3 gigs at the end of mark of the watchman tour at the t&c. I only made one, even then with just 3 minutes to go at the instrumental end of laura II, after a horrendous hitch off the spaghetti junction.

I used to live there & thought it was a joke that they were down to play there.
But they did & it was brilliant.
Can't remember the date, but I'll dig up the ticket stub tonight.

Re: Your 1st FOTN gig
I was a bit of a late starter. I only became a fan in 1991 and only got to see Carl live for the first time on Thursday 24th May 2007 at the London Astoria. But worth the long wait, especially being as I was right at the front opposite Carl.Steve wrote:I can't forget the first time I saw them in Hammersmith Ballroom.
Someone told me they were similar to the Sisters. Not sure that is true.
I was right at the front & when McCoy's Freddy Kruger hand shot out of the smoke, I nearly sh*t myself on the spot.
It was then I discovered who the guy was in the toilet that brushed past me & covered me with dust.
Would love to see them again, but I guess Hungary is not in their plans...
Yours, aye!
