Ok folks, what's going on?? Half a day after the show still nothing apart from few pics online. I hope this means it was so awesome that all ye lucky ones who made it to Islington just need more time than usual to recover.
So what was the set list? Pleeaaaseee...
Anything hinting at the alleged March release?? New songs? At least any improvement to Prophecy? Or a bit more of the piece of art formerly known as Earthound?
And did you need to endure Nergal beyond Penetration?

Cheers, oldnephilim!
Interesting: FtF back and Vet remaining in the staple after its return in Whitby.
Looking forward to the first vids being posted. Especially Vet. I was surprised at how LN pulled that one off in October. Maybe because it was the first time he played it together with Tony on bass?
And looking forward to reports about Prophecy and Earthbound in particular.

So "Earthbound" the same instrumental as last year. but i like it more then Prophecy. i dont know Prophecy sounds too "silly" for Nephilim.

Re: 17/12/15.. London
Some thoughts on the show from a distance. What I've listened to so far is:
Moonchild:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDNYU1HuYxI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCU9kQCgdxg
Zoon:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ-P16Z-lS8
Vet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDImhjqNVgM
Psychonaut:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsxp_NmTLEU
Earthbound & Penetration
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIW2b3yAP34
Some great moments, some less so, overall a show which, from what I've seen so far, would certainly have been worth travelling to.
What I still don't get is why GK uses so much distortion. The classic Neph sound is rather clean. Some overdrive at times, but never much distortion. Pete did get it wrong on a few occasions, especially on Moonchild, e.g. here (Lyon 91):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dprFA8UHiV4
Can happen with Gibson and humbuckers. But most of the time the sound was more or less clean.
GK used some abominable shred machines at times. But, astonishingly, his most awful sound was in 2009 when he played this beautiful white Vintage (?) with Bigsby modelled on a classic Gretsch (oh, how I miss Paul's Tennessean and its hilotron twang!). Now, that he's primarily playing a very appealing ESP Ltd EC-1000VB, he still keeps an astonishing distance to what I consider an appropriate Neph sound.
LN didn't impress me as much on Vet as he did on the Whitby footage, but I thought he did ok. Still more of a timekeeper (and most probably better at this than Nod) than a timegiver. A (certainly very accomplished) rock musician. It's just that usually his play doesn't groove - which was a specific talent of Nod (and what distinguished the Nephs from ALL the other gothic rock greats who played plain 1-2-3-4 rock) as well as what Tony excels in (his reggea ska roots being obvious here) and the reason why he adds this magical dimension to almost everything he contributes to.
Of all the 'newbies' since 2007, however, the one that has really impressed me, as I've mentioned previously, is AJD. Not because of how technically accomplished he is - which, to the contrary, is a feat that makes me cautious because it tends to feed into show-off metal play which is ignorant of musical qualities. Rather he convinced me by how he was willing and able to adjust to the Neph sound. But he does have his metal moments, e.g. on 'Trees' at SBE 2012:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWLdnQep5-8
Well, at Islington, definitely no love it was for his Whitesnake interpretation of Vet (at around 3:00). And not for the first time. I checked the Whitby rendition which I had seriously liked so far. Apparently in part due to inferior sound quality. Now I concentrated on this and, damn, at around 3:00: Here he goes again.
Yet, there were more than a few highs, most of all the rendition of Psychonaut which is nothing short of spectacular. Gav's slide (though not up to Pete, but, hey, who would be??) was good, and AJD actually managed to add an extra dimension (from around 5:00 on). It was awkward seeing Tony exchange his legendary Warwick for some other 4-string for Psychonaut (and the remainder of the show), but I couldn't catch any difference in sound.
And then 'Earthbound'. Double the length now. 6 minutes. And still an instrumental. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be more than an intro (especially not to Prophecy). I can really see this fulfilling the promise it remained a year ago. Add some prog guitars, some arpeggios, enter Carl...15 minutes will not suffice this time. Ok, a bit of dreaming, but whatever this turns into, it is already special and was performed beautifully.
Now, I just hope that the Nephs will also have such moments when I will see them again in March (if the concerts will go forward this time). In the meantime I'm looking forward to further footage and reports of those who were at Islington and those are going to be at T&C.

Some Live shots with Lee Newells other band Wearing Scars where hes allowed to work without speed limiterDravid wrote: LN didn't impress me as much .....

so for me static drumming on nephilim is not a skill problem.... even the full speed double bass on penetration (which he may can do easily) is almost not audible any more and also the tribal drumming on psychonaut should be no problem for him too, Psychonaut lives by this beat so i stilll prefer all the Nod versions, the current live ones really lost lot of their immersion.
Come on CMC, LN besides Gav the longest member in the current band, so give him more freedom......
Re: 17/12/15.. London
I didn't mean to say it's a skill problem. LN might be the most technically accomplished drummer Carl has ever played with. Apart from the issue of soulless, machine-like drumming, there is also the issue of drumming style. LN seems like a perfect fit for Wearing Scars' catchy, commercial melodic rock. The Nephs don't need a classic rock drummer, but a drummer with a feel for groove, innovative fills and restraint, essential to FotN. Dusseldorf 91 (Paul unfortunately neither with his legendary Gretsch nor the Yamaha SG2000 he usually played at the time, but a sordid Ibanez which then made it into Rubicon) is packed with examples of what I mean:NorthernNephilim wrote: so for me static drumming on nephilim is not a skill problem

E.g., at 10:30 mins., at 14:30 and on...and for all its simplicity particularly telling: 13:55.
