I'm remembering Eurorock 2000.. it was very special like a vivid dream. 15 years have passed since then. i see them like a long hibernation.

Saw in there too, my first taste of a festival. I attended the two next before they called it quits. Too bad I'm too broke to attend the new incarnation !
Fundraiser. You know, it's like Hellraiser, but without the Cenobites, the blood and all that.

Official comment from facebook:
MESSAGE FROM MANAGEMENT RE: EUROROCK For those that are curious / disappointed, here's what went down at EuroRock. We travelled to the show from England having hired buses / drivers etc. during our journey we were in constant contact with festival production and nothing untoward was mentioned (although by this time they were fully aware of the situation). Upon arrival at the festival site we were informed that there was a 'situation'. This turned out to be more than just a situation for us.... The equipment they had booked for us in order to play was not on site, because the festival organisers had failed to pay for it. None of our technical requirements had been met. No catering (the guys had been on the road for 10 hours). To make matters even worse we were also told that we would not be paid. We had no alternative but to retreat to the hotel and accept that due to matters beyond our control we were prevented from delivering the show. We sincerely apologise to the many fans who were disappointed, we all feel exactly the same.
Not entirely a question of monetary reward.

After taking some acknowledgement about what happened on the Internet via the Facebook pages of Tony Pettit and Rob Ferguson linked to other official anouncements about the festival let me quote someone called Bruno Bossier :
There is noone to blame except maybe the person who stole that money. The organisation did what they can. The bands did what they can and that could involve taking unpleasant decisions. The fans did what they can simply said being there to support their favourite bands.

I know Bruno Bossier, he's a great guy. But I'm afraid there's more to that story then just bad luck. Eurorock announced twice that the festival was (almost) sold out, but at least on Saturday I'm estimating only some 3.000 visitors were there. Next to this, Eurorock experienced all of this before, so also no excuses there.
What is true, is that the guys that stepped in Saturday did a great job, including all staff and bands that performed for free or almost nothing. I felt ashamed that only Belgian acts (Front 242, Neon Judgement, Praga Khan) refused to play at first, probably because they weren't on their way yet. Only to be added by our Love Gods later in the evening, who decided not to play although they were at the festival site.
But I can't really blame them either. I just hope they had already received some money upfront to pay for the buses, drivers and the trip to Neerpelt. And hopefully until next time ...
I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects.

So… someone embezzled the festival's dough ?

If that's the case, there will certainly be some legal action, so maybe we'll learn more.

I can understand the bands.Heck, it's their way of living. Imagine you're lined up for a job, you lined up the expenses to move out, then suddenly, you're supposed to work for bugger all.
