Marquee Club 1989 - Unknown track
I recently acquired MP3's of this show (Soulseek, awesome since 1999) and am intrigued about the intro music used before Preacher Man, the opening song. It is quite ominous and dark, and I'm hoping it's from a movie soundtrack, but am happy to be proved wrong.
Can anyone that has this show help with identifying that piece of music purleez.
Mucho grassy arse.

40 views and no clues, dammit.
I notice too that this 'unidentified tune' is part of the video footage that is on YouTube...
Isn't there an app for iPhone that identifies pieces of music (I don't iPhone BTW) , must the track have a lyric?

I think it's this one. The beginning sounds like Gregorian chanting (it's in Latin at least), but I can't make out too many of the words. The track makes me think it's out of some film, but no idea on that either.
I particularly enjoyed Carl shakin' his ass to the camera at about 7.40. That was nice

Being a fan of gregorian chants, this came to my mind (with a lot of sound manipulations - possibly because of the vcr- and delay of course):

I'm not sure this is the one, but it's a popular chant and has been used in many movies. Possibly in "the name of the rose" as well, which has been one of McCoy's influences.

LOL! he certainly isn't the kind of frontman who runs up and down the stage, but he used to be less static in his younger daysI particularly enjoyed Carl shakin' his ass to the camera at about 7.40. That was nice

I have the 'The Name of the Rose' soundtrack, definitely not from there.Kostas wrote:Being a fan of gregorian chants, this came to my mind (with a lot of sound manipulations - possibly because of the vcr- and delay of course):

Also, the chant that is used between Love Under Will and Last Exit on 'The Nephilim' is not on the soundtrack. A Longer sample of this must exist as it was used to introduce Preacher Man at the Paradiso gig in 1988. Does anyone have this on DVD to conform if there is a longer sample???

Nah, for sure that is from the movie before Last Exit! When the kid wanders away from the monks chanting and just before he meets the girl...
Dude/tte I like your work, I hope you get those bootlegs, you deserve to have them just for what we can expect you'll do with them Wanted to grab all the old shows, to do some kind of remix project with just live material (maybe a live synch/seq web app or so). Got 192 Kb/s which is just low enough to make me keep putting it off. Great for listening though. Very good noise-mitigation music which just never gets old for me somehow. Mind you some of the original qualities can be pretty grim haha

Perhaps you misread me, it's not on the soundtrack CD. If you have the movie on DVD please try ripping that scene for me. I'd really appreciate it. I can recommend some tools if you don't have any.saegeas wrote:Nah, for sure that is from the movie before Last Exit! Dude? I thought only surfers from Natal used that word still... And pot smokers, of course - is Canadian pot any good?saegeas wrote:Dude/tte
You may not believe this, some mixes I've done have turned up on bootlegs - meaning, I did a mix, then got a bootleg of a show where that version is performed - blows my mind. Laura - Endemoniada - NGD to be specific. Some shows that I have received have versions on that I have used for inspiration too, some others I'll attempt sometime soon(ish).saegeas wrote:I like your work, I hope you get those bootlegs, you deserve to have them just for what we can expect you'll do with them Wanted to grab all the old shows, to do some kind of remix project with just live material (maybe a live synch/seq web app or so). Yes it's from The name of the rose soundtrack (1986), listen to this from time 12:15

The visuals of procession make sense and did fit well with the introduction to a Neph show.

The track used is Kyrie, however, the Marquee version has additional music. !!! They are different.zev wrote:Movie clip

Either The Nephilim added music, or someone else did, that is the root of the matter.

Re: Marquee Club 1989 - Unknown track
I suspect the difference lays in a sort of 'wind from hell' added to the music. Whatever it maybe I can't stand listenning to it because it makes me nauseous. I'm glad I wasn't there at the time. The Last Voice wrote:

Re: Marquee Club 1989 - Unknown track
It sounds like they've added the 'wind from hell' (I like that description!) from the beginning of Dead But Dreaming.

You may be onto something there, certainly it seems credible.scardwel wrote:It sounds like they've added the 'wind from hell' (I like that description!) from the beginning of Dead But Dreaming.

EDIT
Slightly more 'Wind' can be found on the Earth Inferno version:

I have since used the intro to the Astoria 1990 gig with Kyrie laid over it (Commencing at 0:52s) and it is working quite well.Ngie wrote:Not yet the same. What about trying with 'The 24th moment' ?

I think it's close enough to actually be correct - thanks for your help.
