An Ultimate Memorabilia

For those who missed it, last month John Carter sold one of his guitars on e-Bay. He used it on some of the Fallen and Mourning Sun recordings in approximately the 2002-2007 timeframe. She figures prominently (guitars are female!) on the Requiem track and the intro to Mourning Sun. As I was lucky enough to place the highest bid, the iconic instrument passed from one retired musician to another. The guitar in question is a Jackson Kelly PS6T from 1998 probably made in Japan at the time that Jackson was still an independent company. PS stands for Professional Series. According to experts the quality of these guitars deteriorated significantly when Fender took over in the next decade. An EMG SLV single coil for the neck position and an EMG 81 humbucking for the bridge position replace the original Jackson humbucking pick-ups. The neck pick-up is responsible for the clean sounds so characteristically recorded on the Mourning Sun album. A nice touch is the covering of the Jackson brand name on the neck of the guitar with a Nephilim banner, allegedly applied by Carl Mc Coy himself. John Carter signed the back of the body.

John sold the guitar because he considered it a shame that she was laying around unused. Rest assured, it is in good hands now. As an instrument I can only say that it is an amazing experience reproducing Nephilim tunes on an instrument that was used in recording some of them in the first place!
