Re: John Carter new album?
Oh crapbuckets. That's the most deliberately obtuse statement I've seen this side of the FOTN official site! I really don't know if it means a JC album is underway, or a FOTN one - since it's the "FOTNbringbackJohnCarter" page saying it?
Oooeeeerrr... rampant speculation, here we come!

After all, John learned from Ye Master himself…Lord Mureth wrote: Oooeeeerrr... rampant speculation, here we come!
Fundraiser. You know, it's like Hellraiser, but without the Cenobites, the blood and all that.

It's all a bit cryptic that myspace isn't it?
I wish people would actually make it clear what they know instead of this ridiculous "I know something but I'm not telling" bollocks.
But if JC is putting a solo album out, good luck to the bloke.

Interestingly, on the OFFICIAL Carter myspace, he's now got The Proclaimers as one of his very toppest friends. Does this mean something?

Maybe he's set his Top Friends to 'random'?

Probably embarrassed at having the Proclaimers appear in there!

Re: John Carter new album?
and now...he`s gone...
Re: John Carter new album?
I happen to know why he quit. The Proclaimers weren't problematic at all, actually, and all would be quite well, but then he discovered that there's both Sal Solo and Whitesnake there, at the very top, among the toppest of the friendest. Total hair incompatibility, you know, and a perfect bind too: to solve the issue he would have to delete one great chum of his or the other, and he just could not do that, for, obviously, to do so would be to save one friendship only at the cost of the other. And he wouldn't have it that way. But then, who could? Who would? I, for one, don't blame him.
Oh, the fun of it all.

Re: John Carter new album?
Sal Solo? As in the blokey wot was suggest by WEA as vocalist for The Mission? (now there's an alternate history that doesn't bear thinking about!)
This myspace thingy is pretty darn complicated, innit? I mean, he could have hidden his friend list from us grubby dawnrazor myspace folk, then we'd be none the wiser about his love of hair metal / christian new romantic / scottish folk pop.

I actually quite fancy the idea of a post-FotN band fronted by Sal Solo. He's a good singer and no McCoy soundalike. Or lookalike.
It's only when I imagine the sound of Carter's bass in Classix Nouveaux songs - or, even more so, when I think of the typical Classix Nouveaux basslines (if bass those lines truly are) replacing those of Pettitt/Carter/Houchin/whoever in FotN/Nefilim songs - that I for some reason get apprehensive and start to shudder.

Well, it seems he is going to demo/record/release something. The sneakiness of it all is overwhelming . . .

The two-minute long demo preview is available for one week only. Why?

Don't know why it's only listenable for one week; but it sounds rather good. Rather good indeed, in fact. As much 'Floyds of the Chameleons" as "Fields of the Nephilim"
Re: John Carter new album?
I'd say it's more like Garage of the Nephilim. I rather like it, too.
Btw, does that preview suggest another radical solution to the perennial problem of post-FotN bands - that of vocals?

Re: John Carter new album?
Good point - he was auditioning for musicians, wasn't he... but not for vocalists... hmmmmm....
Re: John Carter new album?
Sounds very, very good indeed.

Don't suppose McCoy would be up for doing the vocals? His voice would suit the music quite well...
