DragonRaid - Christian roleplaying game!

Post by Mark Anthony Quested » Mon May 16, 2011 6:58 pm

Now this is weird; a Christian tabletop roleplaying game called DragonRaid!

http://www.dragonraid.net/order?p_p_id= ... oryId=1001

Here is the Wikipedia page on the game - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DragonRaid

Here is a Youtube clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuhvWdiMfZY

Traditionally, Christians have been anti-RPGs. Take, for example, Chick Publications and its infamous anti Dungeons and Dragons propaganda booklet "Dark Dungeons". http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.ASP

So I was somewhat surprised to learn about DragonRaid!

As I am not playing DragonRaid, does this mean I have to burn all my GURPS, Dungeons and Dragons, Star Trek, Victoriana and Doctor Who tabletop RPGs and repent my sins? LOL!!!

Is life getting too fookin' weird or what? *cthulhu*

those #§$%& (censored, observing netiquette) christians try to get their foot in every door, especially where there are opinions or philosophies present that differ from theirs.
you can also observe this at WGT where they hand out flyers, preach through megaphones and hold a "gothic mass" or so in a church. worst of it all, the latter is part of the official wgt-programme. it's just a pain in the ass.

Holy mystical bollocks!

"The intense occult training through D&D prepared Debbie to accept the
invitaion to enter a witches' coven."

Bruharharhar!!!

From my experience, a dialogue like

DEBBIE: "Ms. Frost, this is fantastic... This makes the game real... It's not a fantasy any more."
MS FROST: "I knew you were ready by..."

would rather end up like this:

MS FROST: "Where are you running?"
DEBBIE: "I need to get 65 feet of rope, a grapnel, a knife..."

And the RPG players I met are even more in fear of their character dying than themselves. Total cowards.

Life seems to be even more paranoid than the Paranoia RPG.

I dare recommend the "Nephilim" RPG (yes, there is one with that name existing).
"Call of Cthulhu" is also nice: The more knowledge you acquire about the Great Old Ones, the cults etc, the less of your mental stability remains. *cthulhu*

But RPG is just the beginning. The next step is LARP. You don't play the character, you ARE the character. Hehe.

"Call of Cthulhu" is great.

And friend of mine takes part in LARP each year. He's one of the orks. Mask and leather armour and stuff. :D

Indeed, I have Nephilim on my RPG bookshelf, ditto Call of Cthulhu and Cthulhu Live (the LARP version). *cthulhu*
