Re: Louise Patricia Crane - Debut Release
I found it by accident on Amazon, as usual last to find out...
I bought it, as I like The Eden House and a bit of Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson plays on it).
TEH were on at Whitby on the Friday, if I remember rightly, last time I saw FoTN. Must get to see them too....

Borderline with Eden-House proper. Forgettable. Lack of FOTN material can't glorify the second-rate nature of "the others".
[There's a reason why the others are always dubbed --- you guessed --- "the others"]
Thing is, it was always like a more ambient, paced-down version of Faith and the Muse binging on "Treasure" or "Heaven or Las Vegas".
But I'm a sucker for "Garlands" -- on a good day I give in to "Head over heels" as well.
Sometimes, once you split the original core, there is not much dark matter left to make things matter.
The only "spin off" that ever worked was Ghost Dance -- a mighty alliance, as Anne -Marie never played softie-- a true northern rebel.
And once THEY dived into fluffier production, they failed as well.
Pop is pop, ethereal or otherwise. It is cruel and ephemeral. It goes by merciless rules, built upon consumerism.
Virtually all pioneers of the darker , edgier side of post-punk capitulated. Carl's 1991 move made sure the Fields never did.

It's fine music, just a tad too "scripted" and on the sugar-coated pop side.foreverremain wrote:Yeah...OK. Well I'm into it and I don't give a shit.
Of course it's better than 95% of modern-day garbage, incl. corporate rock shit.
