Great thread! I respect the OP's point- everyone is entitled to their opinion but a slightly strange way to announce it.

Anyhow my copy of S&M is regrettably gathering some dust. I love its sumptuous sound, I love the vocals, I love some of the instrumental work and the blending of a myriad of sounds. BUT, it doesn't get my adrenalin flowing. Parts of it are just a bit slow. I wished they'd throw off the shackles and just go for it- with Pettit, Rippin and Carey that could be bloody good. If I was to break it out again it'd be late at night, probably I'd have been out or had folks round and wanted to listen to some stuff with a red bottle with my eyes half shut. Or I'd just play Elizium instead.

I saw them live at the Luminaire and they were great but obviously needed a bigger venue, haven't been able to catch them since but as a live act I'd definitely go again if I could. But in S&M there's a fizz that is missing, particularly when you look at the heritage of some of the contributors. Add that fizz and they could be amazing.

All I'll say is that there is criticism and there is constructive criticism. The latter is the better.

Have only just stumbled upon this thread... it's cheered my up no end.

For the record, I do wish the Eden House would add a few more uptempo numbers to their repertoir; and though I was rather fond of Smoke and Mirrors, "Looking Glass" left me a little cold (apart from "Walking in the Sand")

The new snippets sound very good though...!
