Seeking information about this old live photo...

Particulars of the photo I'm after: Taken from Carl's left (stage left), it shows him singing and one dude in the audience about a foot away (literally), face to face, almost like his hair is being blown back by the sheer volume of Carl's voice. I think that's about all you see in the photo, probably because they were in the foreground of a flash.

The photo was one of a set of about 6 that I saw somewhere. The quality and lighting was particularly good, probably as there was no smoke whatsoever. The venue was incredibly small, looks like about 50 people tops.

Where did I see this? Can anyone help?

I think t'was even before the hats. So, what, '86 or earlier? It was a cool photo. Where the hell did I see it now....

Yes I admit it, although I see that I had it exaggerated somewhat in my memory. Thanks! Where did you find it? Anyone know the venue/gig? I guess the hats are on after all. No fog though. Looks like a pretty small crowd.

Might be Cardiff Mars Bar, that was about the smallest venue I ever saw them, Carl wasnt on the stage, there literally wasnt room enough.

Looks more like Reids in Southend to me - actually yeah, it is Reids. (Moles in Bath was a cosy one as well!)

Remarkably, I later found the pix on my local drives ... and they are higher resolution than the ones posted at that link! Albeit only slightly. Strange.

They wouldn't perform in such small places now and go for an extensive tour would they? If so I think I'd take a "little" bag and go for it again
