Carl McCoy is a VERY private man, with his own family and close knit circle of friends (many of whom were at the SBE gigs, if you knew who to look out for). I respectfully suggest that people respect his privacy and please do NOT plan any pilgrimages to Hitchin. Carl has no desire to be stalked whilst he is out shopping for furry slippers and wooly cardigans in Marks and Spencers. Leave him be and respect his privacy.

However, it is no big secret that Carl McCoy and his partner Lynn work as Sheerfaith, on various art and other creative projects and commissions. Sheerfaith have also produced crystal etched glass awards for Hertforshire biker fairs. And Sheerfaith are responsible for the merchandise and artwork for Fields of the Nephilim. Carl is a dab hand with a video camera; he worked as second cameraman on the UK indie horror film "The 13th Sign", during which he also voiced the villian.

(I wrote to Carl in 1993, asking whether he had any jobs available at Sheerfaith! Lynn sent me a polite letter back, thanking me for my interest and telling me that Carl liked my letter. And no, I did not get a job with him, although my letter went down well!)

Carl has a love of motorbikes (John Carter also, I understand) and has Hells Angels amongst his friends. Lynn is very good at Caligraphy.

Carl has his own occult order, called The Order of the 24th Moment.

Carl has his own recording studio. I understand that Tony has (or did have) his own studio.

And of course, when he is not falling out with record labels, Carl works as a singer/songwriter/musician under the current moniker of Fields of the Nephilim.

The Watchman is the former Nefilim and FOTN information service, which was run by Lynn and Alex in the 1990s. Today, it acts as Carl's official spokespeople and also manages his web site.

Other than that fairly well known knowledge, the rest of Carl's life is an official secret! (Mark puts his finger to his lips and whispers....YOU KNOW NOTHING!) If I said any more, then I would be sellotaped to a chair and slapped about the face with a wet haddock!

Oh i reckon you're obesessed and you wanna keep Carl for yourself. This is what you want innit? But we won't let you... Carl is also ours.
You're both most admirably obssessed in a most laudably morbid kind of way then. How I envy you . . .
me obsessed? nah... i'm only hungry

Carl is not ours. He makes great music. But when he is off stage, he just wants to live a private family life.

What I wrote is based on information that is publicly avaliable; i.e. the Internet, album covers, Interviews, FOTN and Sheerfaith web sites, Hertfordshire biker web sites, etc.

I did not need to contact Richard Stanley by phone to get it, unlike another fan who has told me privately that they have called Richard!

There is friendly interest, which mine is, and then there is obession, delusion and stalking.

My cocnern is for Carl's personal wellbeing. My intentions are honourable.

(Is that the sound of Scarlett approaching with a swivel chair, Duck Tape and a wet Haddock!? JOKE!)

I don't believe a single word. My reasoning is as follows:

1. He is, as most people here or there will say, a Goth legend.

2. Goth legends thrive on obssession, morbidity, mental illness and, alas, love poems (which may make them a bit cheesy kind of legends, but they somehow manage to pull it through. Usually). The more the merrier.

3. Obssession, morbidity and mental illnesses all require properly fertile social soil to grow and thrive. Being social affairs, their basis is relation and co-dependence.

4. Insanity breeds insanity. Morbidity creates morbidity. Mental illness spreads mental illness. Love poems potentially at least engender - to misquote and maim poor Yeats - further love poems. All are virulent.

5. If Goth legends thrive on obssession, morbidity, mental illness and love poems, in order to grow they need those they relate to to display like ailments, the stranger and more maniacal they are, the better. And write - or be sent - love poems.

6. If McCoy wants to thrive as a Goth legend, he needs a bunch a seriously troubled individuals around, obssessive, morbid, mentally ill or just plainly deranged, writing insane, cheesy or incoherent love letters like mad. Or behaving like utter maniacs in other, novel, ever more challenging ways.

7. Therefore, if they want him to thrive, the fans must disregard his aversion. In fact, it is their sacred duty to behave in an increasingly obssessive and insane manner, so that his aversion grows, and with it the constantly needed creative tension - and McCoy's newly empowered morbidity, obssessiveness, compulsive behaviours, utter kookiness, and the like. Till, one glorious day, he does take his pet lobster for a walk on the end of a blue ribbon in, say, Trafalgar Square. Following in the momentous footsteps of Gerard de Nerval

Well, I'd hate to turn Dawnrazor.co.uk into Squishy's personal blog, you know; I really would. But since you insist and smother me with properly obssessive PMs, hundreds of them every hour, well, let us see me stripped down to the bone:

Oooooh yes. A real beauty, she is. And those two tiny holes, grhlhlhlehllhh (*salivating abundantly*)

Like her? Now fancy that pin-up:

Image

(*whole buckets of saliva pouring onto the carpet*) Filthy, innit? Nothing to cover her shame! Grhghllghlrghhhh . . .

But, mind you, I'm not not some perverted vacuum-cleaner lover. I treat them as equals, not toys; and I wouldn't dare to even think of touching that one. I'm no Gary Glitter:

Let me repeat, this last image is here only to show you that there are indeed very reasonable limits to my not-too-kinky kind of debauchery. Deep down I'm still a prude, unlike the more enlightened of us

But that's precisely the reason why I posted it! So that all of us are wary and cautious not to ever cross the line! You're accusing me of the sin I'm castigating!

So.
Very.
Unjust!

Or . . . perhaps it's your own repressed lust for the poor innocent Hetty that's speaking through you? Now, you dirty dirty man, what say you? What?
