Tom Edwards' (previous?) band . . .

Here within you discuss about the side-projects, i.e. the bands that has something to do with F.O.T.N. and doesn't include Carl McCoy on vocals.

Tom Edwards' (previous?) band . . .

. . . is apparently called Fosca:

http://www.myspace.com/foscatheband
http://www.fosca.com/
http://www.musicmediasearch.com/artist/ ... ode-988044
http://beardscratchers.com/compendium/t ... e16c2ae37c

I would speculate he joined Fosca as late as 2006 or 2007, but I don't really know. He certainly didn't play on or produce their 2002 stuff, and he debuted with "Fosca in Concert", recorded in 2007. He may have joined much earlier, though.

There are many Tom Edwardses all over the net but I do have some reasons to suspect that that's the one we need.

Dickon Edwards, Fosca's leader, in a March entry of his blog wrote that he needed "to finish the song structures [for the new Fosca project, presumably], add lyrics, and program the bass and drums using Garageband on the iBook" and that he wanted Tom Edwards' help there.

"Unfortunately", he complains, "Tom Edwards - now a busy session musician - and Alex Mayor, the most recent Fosca programmers, are both unavailable this week. So I have to bite the digital bullet and work out how to do it myself. How do I feel about that? I feel more bouts of ‘Argh’ are on the way.

Tom’s excuse is worth noting: he’s playing Greece with Fields of the Nephilim"

(http://dickonedwards.co.uk/diary/index. ... d-of-argh/)

(Btw, I am NOT saying that Tom Edwards is a hired hand, and not a proper, full-time FotN member. I'm merely eager to share my discovery - that is, where exactly Tom seems to have come from - and not endorse this or that purely arbitrary interpretation)

Just a bit of more attentive browsing and googling, and new facts - if facts they are - seem to appear. Tom Edwards is apparently Dickon Edwards' - Fosca's frontman's - brother:

http://beardscratchers.com/compendium/t ... e16c2ae37c

More importantly, according to beardscratchers.com, musicbrainz.org and musicmedia.com, Tom Edwards is indeed a full-time regular member of FotN. What is really surprising, according to those sites FotN right now is Carl McCoy and Tom Edwards, nobody else. And furthermore, it seems that there has been no other regular FotN members since 1991 split-up:

http://musicbrainz.org/show/artist/rela ... istid=2201
http://www.musicmediasearch.com/artist/ ... ode-194953

I had suspected that Gav King and Lee Newell might possibly be less than full-time, properly regular band members. I'd been quite convinced, though, that John Carter is. But, of course, all that may turn out to be little more than yet another steaming pile of rotting rumour :? :? :?

Apologies for not continuing the previous thread. I couldn't verify whether Sacred's Tom Edwards is the Tom Edwrads or not, btw. Any help?

There there, Xord Xureth, it's not that bad really. Tom Edwards' guitarwork is mighty fine, and he does creatively contribute to FotN's tradition. Very much so, IMO.

Though honestly I haven't dared to listen to Fosca yet ;) But, feeling "dirty, used and cheated" (as you say you are) does indubitably require some Swans. "Filth" or "Cop"? "Body to Body, Job to Job"? Yum yum. "Greed" and "Holy Money" too would be quite appropriate here, especially their live versions (*runs off to play "Public Castration Is a Good Idea"*)

PS. If only I hadn't lost somewhere "A Long Slow Screw" . . .

Actually Lord Mureth, Fosca is not that odious at all. Having gone though their MySpace tracks, I find them really quite likable    But please don't stop listening to Swans by any means ;)

Reckon I'll go for the cathartic loveliness of "Will we Survive..." I prefer that later incarnation of Gira & co...

And yes, I listened to Fosca.... hence my comments

Sorry, but there's nothing - I repeat, nothing - that makes my skin crawl more than twee indiepop. I should know, I was in a band of that ilk once. I left under a cloud when I suggested we do a Gaye Bykers cover...
