You mean you don't think Pettitt would be capable of constructing a soundscape?
as far as labels....when I first heard the Last Rite album "Guided By Light" I lumped it under "Progressive Goth"...
"Mourning Sun"...I don't know what to think of it...and my guess is that you'll never be able to pin what Carl will do next.

Friday 6th October
At London’s Camden Underworld gig MANUSKRIPT as well as SHADOW SIDE
will now support NFD. Manuskript will be familiar to Whitby regulars as
they’ve headlined there a few times; they’ve got a new album
‘Protect And Survive’ out on Resurrection Records. That's more like it!
Check them out at:
www.myspace.com/manuskriptmusic
Get there early for the support bands: doors 7.00; first band 7.30;
finishes 10.15.
It’ll be filmed for the Extreme Channel; you can view it on Oct 11th
at midnight.
Then it’s the after show party at INFERNO at the Electric Ballroom
across the road. It’s £5 with flyer before 11; it’s believed a
print-out from their website counts; even though they’re still
advertising the NFD June album launch…

Friday 29th September
NFD will be co-hosting the resumed monthly FRIGHT CLUB at
The Mean Fiddler, which was a great success with the launch in June.
It’ll feature the usual glamour, decadence, horror & beauty, as well as
all that splendid décor and those great DJs, and will be filmed by and
broadcast on Redemption TV. A live performance at midnight is from New
Project.
NFD will be there in the background helping steer things along. Oh –
check out the ‘Fright Club Theme’ at the Fright Club myspace!

The new NFD album ‘Dead Pool Rising’ is out now but you know all
about that.
If you saw the band on tour they'd love to hear from you either at the
forum at their website or at their myspace.

I couldn't stop listening to Dead Pool Rising when I first bought it, it had a nice warm familiarity to 'The Nephilim' and a nice rocking edge, but it's worn off like a sugar high and I need my protein.
Has anyone heard the Finnish band The Black League? Their album Ichor is a great mixture of dark epic atmospheres and a rocking good time. I describe 'em to people as "Fields of the Nephilim meets Motörhead".

Sounds interesting, have they released anything?Stranger wrote: Has anyone heard the Finnish band The Black League? Their album Ichor is a great mixture of dark epic atmospheres and a rocking good time. I describe 'em to people as "Fields of the Nephilim meets Motörhead".
When routine bites hard and ambitions are low...
Yeah they have 5 CDs. Go with the earlier stuff though. 'Ichor' is their first album, the most epic and melancholy. Their most recent two albums are more basic Motorhead-type rock 'n roll.Nic wrote:Sounds interesting, have they released anything?Stranger wrote: Has anyone heard the Finnish band The Black League? I love it and for me it was one of my top albums in 2006. There is probably only one track I thought was a bit run of the mill, and that would be My Possession which was not great but at least the other seven tracks were of a very high calibur. I think the standouts for me would be 'One moment between us, Decent, Rise, Light my way, Dead Pool, Senseless & Caged.
They were!scardwel wrote:NFD played 3 Neph classics (Psychonaut, Moonchild and Preacher Man) as an encore in Nottingham the other night!
All were superbly performed.
I do.morphicfields wrote:I saw them covering Preacher Man on TV a couple months ago. I don't think Carl and his new crew have anything to worry about.
There's a review here.
I had a good chat and a JD's with 'Bob' White after, which ranged from a discussion of the merits of playing small venues here compared to larger venues in Europe to DIY (I kid you not).
Nice chap.
There may be pictures to follow...if they come out

I can imagine that Bob's growling voice could fit for Preacher Man and Moonchild, but I have some doubts concerning Psychonaut and its shamanic chanting...scardwel wrote:NFD played 3 Neph classics (Psychonaut, Moonchild and Preacher Man) as an encore in Nottingham the other night!

I must admit I like the music but I don't like the vocals, imo he can't pull it off like McCoy. It's a shame they play all these Neph songs as they have a large catalogue themselves and should try and promote themselves in their own right rather than trying to fill a void that a painfully slow Mr McCoy leaves in between releases.
I can't imagine Last Rites playing 2 or 3 Nephilim songs at a gig. I wander if they'd be as popular if a certain Mr Pettit wasn't in the band.
(NFD fans begin flame now...)
