I was looking for a forum extension to add pictures from the gigs, when I came up with the idea of adding a Wiki to dawnrazor.co.uk. So I've installed the same software that is behind Wikipedia.

This is just experimental for now. Eg. because adding pictures to it is a bit more cumbersome than I expected it to be. But it is worth a try.

For editing and adding pages you will have to login again, but your username and password are the same as here in the forum.

Here it is: http://dawnrazor.co.uk/wiki/

Thnx. *notworthy*

In short: This Wiki thing is like a book where everybody, with an account in this forum, can rewrite and add pages.
Just log in and hit the edit button.
Every page also keeps track of changes, so that it is possible to undo vandalism. And each page has it's own simple discussion list.

Sumerland as a fan site is great, but it's also pretty static because only Beth Winegarner can edit the pages. And Sheer Faith put a lot of effort into fields-of-the-nephilim.com but it looks like it ate up too much of his time so it's frozen in Xiberia.

I've added some pages to illustrate what could be done with it. But adding pictures really is a pain in the ass. (I'm still proud I've been able to provide a screenshot of nephilim.org (anyone here who remembers that page? :D)I made a backup of half of the page before Katie Nutt's harddrive crashed. I offered her the files around '98 to restore the site, but I got no reply. She also had her own artist site which pretty much resembled Sheer Faith's work. It looks pretty different these days: http://www.theopticnerve.com/.)

Hm... I guess my main intention is that it could help to get more people being sucked into the Neph & Co.'s music.

Argh! I originally came up with the idea because myheartland.co.uk has a gallery, then failed to find a decent gallery, thought about a wiki instead, and now I see that myheartland has a wiki, a twitter channel and a facebook "like" button! Ugh... Oh... I hit it. Sorry guys...

Damn bastards! I am quite impressed. *notworthy*

(I only hope that they don't beat me up when I appear tonight at the Sisters gig with my Neph t-shee... )

It is. On the other hand, it may be somewhat difficult "to get more people being sucked into the music of" a band that's been rather, erm, slumberous, for some 6 or, depending on how and what you count, 15 years. But it's worth trying for sure. Even if for the very heroism itself.

Yes to the Wiki thing.

Though Wikikikiki has a tendancy to delete stuff at random… :?

"Wikikikiki"? :D

I hope that Wikipedia's software is pretty stable. If it deletes stuff at random, it's more likely that users are deleting stuff. But each page tracks it's history which can be used to revert changes, including the 'reverts'.

Well If it deletes stuff at random, more likely because users are deleting stuff yet each page tracks its history which can be used to revert changes, including the 'reverts', then ok however, not everybody including me I guess is familiar to using Wikipedia. I remember puting my nose into it and soon giving it up because I couldn't make it out within the 'sand square' :?
Since your will is to collect more visitors into the Neph place I only hope the result is not the opposite with most Dawnrazors drowning to climb in this niew board :!:

The trouble with Wikipedia, the German one, I dunno about the others, is that they are trying hard to write a serious encyclopaedia. And so those serious people do regularly end up having serious arguments.

Let this be Chaos! Let this be fun! And let us preserve the seriousness for those things in real live which really matter.

Hm, my will is more of the "people are buying more records" type.

And looking at this board and at NGD, I don't think that people are going to drown. There are lots of other forums around which (Uh! Good idea to list 'em.) might be of greater interest than our specialised ones.

And I am never sure about my will.
