New ownership of dawnrazor.co.uk

Post by markandre13 » Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:29 pm

Johan had to go through some troubles kicking his provider, sending faxes et al. and finally the domain ownership of dawnrazor.co.uk has changed.

It will take some time till the nameservers are updated and I hope that we won't run into trouble during this. (And that the prepared and temporary redirection on the new dawnrazor.co.uk to dawnrazor.org works. And... Oh, forget it! )

You may also notice that the domain name is now registered in the forum's name. :D

I have already made preparations that Ian and TheBoyNextDoor can pull in full copy of the forum should something nasty happen to me. The same seems to be possible for the Dawnrazor.co.uk domain as it is not managed through my provider but through a separate account at nominet.org.uk.

I *notworthy* myself!

This is now the official entry in the whois database:

It's not that expensive. It's only 5,88€/year. I've even got a discount for the first year, so it's been only 3,48€.

How much is that in Guinness?

Are you sure that kind of information is managed on her laptop and not within the vaults of the IT department? That's where I've changed your bank account to mine. I thought I might be better appreciating your salary than you. ;)

Okay, we are up and running at http://dawnrazor.co.uk/forum/ and everybody needs to login again.
If you have cookie and javascript restrictions on you webbrowser, it is now safe to allow dawnrazor.co.uk

In case someone's computer still gets the old internet address (such things need some time to propagate through the net), I have left http://dawnrazor.org/forum/ active. The forum is still available there but there you will encounter the login issue we've had here last year (aka 'login every time').

Once your computer gets the new IP, the issue will fix itself.

UPDATE:

Ian and Lord Mureth had some trouble working on the dawnrazor.org domain because of the cookies stored in their webbrowser. So enabled the redirection from dawnrazor.org to dawnrazor.co.uk now. Hopefully all ISPs and routers are already reporting the new IP address...

Sorry for the inconvenience.
I'll get my coat...

If you encounter a problem, just drop a mail to stupidarsehole@dawnrazor.org

Okay. Great. There are a lot of other things I can break during attempts to fix other stuff. *whistle*

Ie. the forum's look is still coded for phpBB 3.0.1, while we are already running phpBB 3.0.8. I already have a fix and will apply it during the week after midnight when the traffic is low.

After that I am going to try re-adding the 'quick reply' feature, which provided the reply box at the bottom of each thread.

I also saw that myheartland.co.uk has an image gallery on it's side. Currently I dump all my Dawnrazor tour pictures into Facebook. But to have an option to put 'em here would be nice.

There are several ways to do those things and it will take some time till I've found a way which looks good and wasn't written by a bunch of bloody amateurs. I will set up a demo in a copy of the forum so people can say if they like it or not.
